February of every year is Civil Registration Month, pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 issued on January 28, 1991, to remind Filipinos of their duty to register vital events in their life such as births, marriages, and deaths, as well as decrees, legal instruments, and judicial orders affecting their civil status.

A correct and accurate civil registration, compulsory for every Filipino under Republic Act (RA) 37653, helps facilitate the smooth processing and availing of basic services and transactions with government agencies and private institutions such as education, healthcare, insurance benefit, employment, social security, and property ownership.
